YMCA Boy Scout Basketball Team
RPPC of a YMCA Boy Scout Basketball Team (1911)

In 1908 and 1909, before the B.S.A. existed, several YMCA's were hosting Boy Scout Troops.  Edgar M. Robinson, the Boys' Work Secretary of the International Committee of the YMCA encouraged this.  Among other things he had developed the YMCA's first camping program and, during the summer of 1909, he had hired Ernest Thompson Seton to help train camp leaders.  In April of 1910 he began a brief stint as the managing director of the Boy Scouts of America.  That summer when Seton repeated his training program at Silver Bay in New York, all of the YMCA leaders affiliated with the B.S.A., and within another year all YMCA Boy Scout Troops became B.S.A Troops.
