If you surf the internet using Internet Explorer 5.0/6.0 or Mozilla Firefox you've probably noticed that some of your bookmarked sites have custom icons while others have the default browser icon.  Those custom icons are the favicon.ico that your browser searches for at websites when visiting or making bookmarks.  In addition to appearing in the Favorites menu, the favicon.ico replaces the default icon in the Address bar at the top of the browser.
