BURKINA FASO
Issue Dates: Two sets in 1997.
[Boy Scouts] <Semi-postal> One set honors the 90th Anniversary of Scouting
with an overprint on the 1995 Burkina Faso Mushroom issue for the 18th World Jamboree.
The other is a Princess Diana minisheet of 9...one value shows Diana with a boy
in Brazil, wearing a Scout T-shirt (how's that for sharp eyesight?)
Available: set of Silver and Gold overprints, with 8 stamp values, SS, compounds and imperfs,
minisheet.
CHAD
Issue Date: Either late 1997 or early 1998
[Boy Scout] The six stamps are printed in 3 odd
little minisheets of 6 stamps. There is no marginal Scout inscription in the minisheets.
The layout is bizarre, which does create several different possible setenant combinations. The
layout gives you the possibility of four different setenant combinations on each sheetlet. The
stamps have actual Scouts and a large Chad Scout emblem in the center, in addition to butterflies, mushrooms
and flowers.

EGYPT
Issue Date: November 24, 1997
[Boy Scouts] This 75p airmail stamp was issued to commemorate the 85th Anniversary of Arab Scouting. A
total of 150,000 stamps printed by photo offset in sheets
of 50 (five across by ten high).
Available: single stamp, used stamp, Scout inscription corner block with 4 stamps, announcement
folder with stamp, Scout FD cancel, and FD cover.

OMAN
Issue Date: November 30, 1997
[Girl Guides] This is a 100 baisa single stamp for the Silver
Jubilee of Omani Girl Guides (1972-1997). The Omani Scout emblem combines both GG and
BS emblems, so both the stamp and the FDC are collected by both GG only, BS only and general
Scout collectors. Printed by multicolor offset in sheets of 50...five across by ten high.
Available: single, serial number corner block, FDC with Scout cancel.
PHILIPPINES
Issue Date: August 17, 1997
[Boy Scouts] This stamp honors the 2nd General Assembly of the World Scout Parliamentary Union. The
Assembly was held from August 17th to the 22nd. Stamp
is a multicolor, printed photo offset in sheets of 50...ten across by 5 down. FD cover
is government produced and had a commemorative Scout cancel for the event and a multicolor
cachet.

ROMANIA
Issue Date: October 25, 1997
[Boy Scouts] This issue honors Scouting in Romania. A setenant strip of
5, printed in sheets of 5 horizontal strips (one strip across by five strips high). EACH row
is tete beche (reversed) with the next plus there are two same Scout inscriptions
(Romanian Scouts) in Romanian in left margin. The bottom margin of the
sheet has five different Scout emblems printed in green across the bottom.
The entire sheet is too tall for an album page, being over 12 inches high.
Available: Setenant strip of 5. Entire sheet of 5 alternate tete beche strips, FDC, and
multicolor FD maxi cards.

TURKISH CYPRUS
Issue Date: December 22, 1997
[Girl Guides & Scouts] This single 40,000 Turkish lira stamp (part of a
unrelated set of 4 Anniversaries issue) is for the 90th Anniversary of World Scouting.
Printed in sheets of 40 (4 across by 10 high) by offset, on watermarked paper, at State
Printing House in Lefkosa. Only 200,000 printed, designed by Huseyin Billur. Photo
depicts what appears to be three Girl Scouts planting a tree. A commemorative Scout
cancel was used on the first day cover as well.

TURKMENISTAN
Issue Date: October 7, 1997
[Girl Guides and Scouts] This combination Lady Diana/Girl Guides/Baden Powell souvenir sheet has
inscription for the 90th Anniversary of
Scouting. This is one of the best full color printing jobs in quite awhile..a simply
beautiful issue!
