FRANCE
Stamp Day [Fête du timbre] 2000 - Tintin Cartoons. Issue Date: 6 March 2000.
Design: 3.00 F / 0,46€ (Euro). Tintin and Milou. The 3F stamp was also issued in a booklet
containing three copies of the surcharged stamp for the Red Cross and four of the unsurcharged
stamp. Stamps issued in various formats may differ from each other in minor details. The
inside of the booklet tells the story of the designer: Georges Remi (Hergé), the creator of
Tintin. The original incarnation of Tintin, was as a Scout Patrol Leader called Totor. Hergé drawings
of Tintin appeared in Le Boy-scout belge, the monthly magazine of the Belgian Boy Scouts and became famous around the world.
